END OF TERM 1 - 2023 CIRCULAR by rjs

Dear Parents and Guardians,

On behalf of the Board of Governors, management and staff, we extend our warmest greetings to you. We hope this circular finds you and your families well. The school has officially closed for the holidays today Tuesday 2nd May 2023.

As we close yet another successful term, we are thankful to the almighty God for his mercies, guidance, and blessings. We commend and appreciate our dedicated staff who have worked tirelessly to ensure the well-rounded development of our learners. Special appreciation goes to you, our dear parents, for supporting our children and  the school.

We have had a term, filled with exciting learning experiences. We successfully held curriculum meetings across all age groups. These curriculum days were designed to give parents information about the home project expectations and evaluation practices. We are optimistic that these engagements will supplement the support towards the children’s learning experiences while at home. We appreciate the parents who made time to join us during the curriculum learning sessions.

Academics

Our school’s vision runs through our learning activities. We nurture excellence in all that we do so that our children become successful learners. We are constantly searching for new and innovative ways to make learning more exciting. We want every child at Raphela to enjoy the sense of adventure that learning brings and to discover how learning changes lives. This year we introduced project work activities that would supplement learning within the classroom. We are optimistic that these fun – based activities will develop problem-solving ability among the children and stimulate the use of experimental and creative skills to explore discovery of knowledge.

We have evaluated the children’s performance through written, formative and project assessments. End-of-term reports have been issued to all learners. As earlier communicated, Primary 3 – Primary 6’s report cards will have an inclusion of the project work that was done. We were excited to see the level of enthusiasm and creativity that was exhibited by the children. We thank the parents who made time and supported the children as they worked on these tasks. We implore  you to celebrate the children's success and acknowledge their areas of growth. We also request you to have open conversations with the children about their progress and to motivate them to strive for excellence in all aspects of their lives.

Co-curricular Activities

Our children are encouraged to participate in various co-curricular activities. Each child is required to select a club within which they will participate throughout the term. The clubs provide opportunities for learners to explore their interests and develop skills beyond academics. We are happy to announce that Raphela was well represented by a team that participated in the Uganda Swimming Federation inter-school competition. These learners demonstrated great sportsmanship and exhibited that continued spirit of excellence. Bravo to Kayesu Heidi Bagaya , Nakiganda Jamillah of Primary 6, Ainembabazi Hannah Bagaya, Twizere Aron, Babirye Jehan Najjemba and Nakato Jinan Nabuyungo of Primary 5  our  ever excelling swimming team.

Raphela will be participating in the 11th National Spelling Bee competition that will be held on 14th October, 2023 and the African Spelling Bee in November 2023. Interested parents will be requested to register their children for participation in the activities that will culminate to these competitions. Details of these competitions and other club activities will be sent to you at the beginning of the Term 11.
